Told in Color and Form

Told in Color and Form explores the intersection of Salish mythology, art tradition, and contemporary visual storytelling. Rooted in my own Sinixt lineage, the project aims to reimagine and honor traditional oral stories through a series of multimedia two-dimensional works.
Salish stories—passed down through generations—are not just fables or symbolic tales; they are living teachings tied to land, kinship, and transformation. They guide behavior, encode ecological knowledge, and keep cultural memory alive. Yet, these stories have often been flattened or erased in colonial contexts. This work intends to counter that erasure by asserting their presence through visual means, where image, object, and space become vessels for story.
