Txətnčutn mlá (Raven Spirit) is a mixed media piece connecting my exploration of the Sinixt people and their culture with my own mental health journey. I have taken great interest in the story of Raven, and his depiction as a bringer of life and a trickster. My own struggles with depression and anxiety are similar to this depiction. Some days are better than others, and it can create a false sense of hope and safety. Txətnčutn mlá (Raven Spirit) uses watercolor, chine collé printmaking, copic marker, colored pencil, 3D paper cutouts, and abalone shell to create visually striking textures and use a wide range of colors.
