The final work of my BFA thesis, ‘Of The Lakes’, this piece explores the efforts over the last year to research my heritage, the culture, the history, the visual traditions, and turn it into a story.
I was inspired to pursue my thesis by a dream. I was in the Powwow, with a beautiful fancy shawl and regalia. I felt the drum in my heart and the songs of the people in my soul. It felt completely natural, and is one of the only dreams I have ever remembered upon waking up. This piece was inspired by that dream, and celebrates the finish line of my thesis work.
